Hazel and the Puppy

My Aunt Hazel

For this layout I used papers from the Wallflower paper stash by Tim Holtz.

These are the dies and punch I used:

Cheery Lynn Designs
Horizon Circles
Tattered Lace
Mini Ruffle Squares
Spellbinders
Romantic Rectangles Two
Martha Stewart
Wild Flowers
Spellbinders
Victorian Corners

I layered all the die-cuts over a dark brown cardstock copy and offset them slightly to accentuate the edges.

These are the chipboard pieces I used:

Blue Fern Studios
Bits of Honey
Creative Embellishments
Rose Leaves Spray

I painted the Rose Leaves Spray green and then embossed all the chipboard pieces with ultra thick embossing enamel using clear ink.  For the Bits of Honey I lightly dabbed brown, pale green and white paint overtop using a paintbrush.

I painted the Rose Leaves Spray again with the same green and added veins with brown paint using a fine-tipped brush.  I then scratched over the veins with a pin and applied some watery light green paint in between the veins.

Here are some more close-ups:

Thank you so much for taking a look!

  1. Tracy - where do I even begin?! The details are simply amazing! Love the design and how your angled the photo. LOVE the choice of papers (where have you been hiding those??) and the punching that accentuate Aunt Hazel's floral dress! The bits of lace looks fabulous! The artist in you shows strongly in the way you colored the chipboard leaves - wow! LOVE the corner die cuts too. Last, but definitely not least - the puppy is ADORABLE! : )

    1. Thanks Lisa! I just discovered that paper pad at Michael's a few weeks ago (even though I think it's been around for a couple of years based on the copyright date). Don't know how I missed it before. It's perfect for vintage layouts!

  2. Wow! Again just gorgeous! I have that paper pad. - Nice, just plain nice. The lace is beautiful. You really inspire. I am such an amateur! And I've been scrap booking all my life (born in the early 50's). I follow a few artists - like yourself. Tell me Tracy, is there a class, or vintage scrap booking basics? Thanks Tracy for sharing - I look forward to your posts. Saw those Fairies over there. Kinda cute!

    1. Thanks Denise! I don't know if there is a class for vintage scrapbooking basics. I don't think my style is particularly complicated so I wouldn't really know what how to teach someone either. I just like to keep the colour palette minimal, use muted tones and of course, I love my die-cuts, lol.
