That Would Be Nice

My son, Evan, in 2002

When my son, Evan, was little, he used to say "That would be nice" a lot.  The expression on his face in this picture makes me imagine him saying that, hence the name of this layout.

This is my second layout this month using the beautiful Scraps of Elegance July kit, "Country Chic", featuring 49 and Market Cottage Life paper.  I used the Main KitPatterned Paper Add-onCoordinating Paper Add-onElements Add-on and Floral Add-on.

Floral Add-on

I started with the beautiful Provence paper from the Main Kit and did some stenciling with molding paste on the background.  I went over the stenciled areas with some watercolour to make them stand out more.

The Crafter's Workshop

I used another sheet of the Provence paper from the Patterned Paper Add-on to make some of the die-cuts.  The Bicycle Ally paper and Garland paper from the Coordinating Paper Add-on were used to make the other die-cuts.  I layered each die-cut over a black cardstock copy, offsetting them slightly to accentuate the edges.

This is the die set I used:

The two small chipboard flourishes were from my stash.  I embossed these with the Lindy's Stamp Gang Pop Rock Purple embossing powder included in the Main Kit.

All the other embellishments were in the Main Kit or Add-ons.  I sprayed the green roses from the Main Kit with some Walnut Gold Glimmer Mist to dull the colour slightly and brushed the tips of the petals with white paint.

Thank you so much for taking a look today!

  1. GASP!!!! My Goodness, this is FABULOUS! The colors instantly attracted me! What a precious photo and gorgeous design! You really did a great job on this one Tracy! WOW!

  2. I was so in awe of the colors, photo and design, that I forgot to say how ultra-cute Evan's saying of "That would be nice" is!! How awesome is that?! And I need to stop shopping for flowers and start shopping for paper! The paper is BEAUTIFUL! It's right up my alley!

  3. Hello Tracy: I love your photos. This layout is awesome! So I'm awfully glad I stopped by!! What's amazing though, I signed up to follow you by email last week or so, never received email notifications?? So I signed-up again today - but I'm hoping you see this comment Tracy so you can help me follow you and receive notifications?? Thanks, Denise

    1. Hi Denise. Thanks for letting me know about the email notifications. Not sure why it wasn't working but I deleted the "follow by email" gadget and reinstalled it. I tested it and think it should work now. Be sure to check your spam folder for the Feedburner verification email.

    2. Hmmm. I signed up for Follow by email myself and didn't get a notification. I'm not sure what's wrong. I'll have to investigate further.

  4. Okay, Thanks, so I'm not crazy. I'll just stop by, no worry.

    1. I tried installing a different subscription service if you want to sign up by email. It's on my blog where the other one was. If you do subscribe, let me know if it works, lol.

    2. Okay, I give up. Something screwed up my blog and it wasn't loading properly so I've deleted the email subscription entirely. Sorry.
