Glenn and Lori

My brother and sister in 1962

For this layout I used some old Fancy Pants Designs papers from their Lilac House collection.

I did some stencilling on the upper left and lower right corners with molding paste.  While the paste was still wet I heat-embossed it with Verdigris Antiquities embossing powder.

These are the dies and punch I used:

Spellbinders
Timeless Rectangles
EK Success
Argyle punch

The two small flourish chipboard pieces were from a store that is no longer in business.  I did a white crackle finish (Picket Fence Distress Crackle paint) and then inked them with Gathered Twigs and Evergreen Bough Distress Inks, wiping off the excess.

The other chipboard piece is by Blue Fern Studios.

Daisies Collage

I painted the Daisies collage grey and sponged some white paint overtop the bricks to give it a mottled effect.  I then painted the flowers in various shades of turquoise, painted the stems green and did a wash of white overtop.  I finished by gluing Express-O Yourself Prills in the center of each flower using Artquest Perfect Paper Adhesive (matte).

The medallion was made with Sculpey Ultra Light and a mold and then painted.
Prima Iron Orchid Designs
Medallions

I painted it with Prima's Patina Effect Pastes and wiped Vintage Silk Opal Magic wax over the raised areas with my fingertip to highlight them.  I glued a decorative brad in the center to add some interest.

Thank you so much for taking a look!

  1. Seeing close ups and reading the details make this layout even more impressive! I especially love what you did with the BFS daisies chipboard! I have the same one and am inspired seeing how beautiful it can be with what you've done! Adorable photo too!

  3. WOW Tracy I love this layout! I especially love what you did with the BF chipboard piece and your stenciled flourish corners. I've never tried using molds but every time I see what you're able to create I want to try. The medallion piece is AMAZING. p.s. how cute is that photo of your brother and sister? Adorable.

  4. new subbie to your blog via Scraps of Darkness. Let me just say I feel like you crawled into my soul. Your style is what I aspire for my pages. If I can achieve a 10th of what you have created, I will be happy. I started my family scrapbooks many years ago with limited supplies but my style has evolved, now I want to go back and add to them. How do you display or store your pages with all the embellishments? Thank you for the inspiration.

    1. Thank you Olive! I put my layouts in page protectors (I can usually fit them in the We R Memory keeper sleeves without a problem) and store them in boxes for the most part. They are too bulky to fit more than 4 or 5 in an album and it was getting rather expensive that way. I have a bunch on the wall in shadow box frames and I sometimes switch the layouts in them.

    2. I have a large 3 ring binder type album so I hope I can store pages in that. The ones I made for family are fairly flat so they went in post bound albums. Each of your pages is a work of art so they need to be displayed. TFS

  5. I love watching YT videos of process and design, but I saw on a previous post that you stated watching you create would be like watching paint dry. Made me chuckle, my process is long and tedious and I too just sit and stare at my supplies, waiting for things to "speak" to me.
