George

My grandfather George when he was little

For this layout I used some old My Mind's Eye papers from their Lost & Found and Lost & Found 3 collections as well as some plain pieces from their Signature Life collection.

MME - Lost & Found 3
Oliver - Ledger Stripe
(I used the backside for
the background of the layout)
MME - Lost & Found 3
Oliver -  Multi Plaid
(I used this behind the punched
edge of the backgound paper)
MME - Lost & Found
Portobello Road - First Class
(I used this for some of the
smaller die-cuts)
MME - Lost & Found
Portobello Road - Dearest
(I used the back of this
 for the large oval die-cut)

These are the punch and dies I used:

Martha Stewart Punch
-Vintage Doily
Cheery Lynn Designs
-Oval Doily Stacker One
Tattered Lace
- Ornate Leaves
Spellbinders
- Captivating Squares
Spellbinders
- Romantic Rectangles 2

As usual, I layered each die-cut over a darker version, offsetting them slightly to accentuate the edges.

For the chipboard pieces, I painted them dark brown, applied a white crackle paint and then rubbed them with Iced Spruce Distress Ink (wiping off the excess).  I then applied some Fawn chalk ink around the edges.

Dusty Attic - Botanic Accent #1

The nameplate and teddy bear were made with Sculpey Ultra Light and molds and then painted.  I used a set of alphabet stamps to do the name on the nameplate.  The stamping was a little too faded looking so I went over it with a darker marker to add dimension.

Best Flexible Molds
- Teddy Bear Picnic
Prima mold - Object Labels 1

I applied a pale aqua watercolour randomly around the center and edges of the layout as well as inking randomly with the Fawn chalk ink.

The sage-coloured flowers are by 49 and Market from their Vintage Shades collection.

Thank you so much for taking a look!

  1. Tracy this is truly magnificent!! You have such an amazing eye for matching patterns & details. I can see how the patterns in the papers match details of the gorgeous oval dies and the lace. I love this design.

  2. I forgot to say how wonderful the rope looks around the photo! I have always loved how little boys were clothed in dresses back in the day. Made the mother's job a lot easier I'm sure to change diapers : ). The machine stitching adds so much and I love the antiqued finish on the clay pieces...and George's name. I guess I should have just said that I love everything about this layout - LOL!
